1932 Bugatti Type 55 'Jean Bugatti Coupe'
The Bugatti Type 55 was designed as a road-going version of the Type 51 Grand Prix car. Launched in 1931 at the Paris Motor show, the production car sported a roadster body creating one of Bugatti’s most agile and fast road cars.
This car was Jean Bugatti’s personal ‘one off’ Coupe bodied car. A perfectly judged example of art deco styling that surely influenced early Hot Rod builders with its ultra low roofline. Jean broke the record from the Bugatti factory, in Molsheim, to Paris in this car. He reportedly averaged a speed of 180kph along the way.
