At work in the studio, Wimbledon | London | Early 2024

After graduating with a Masters in Vehicle Design from London’s Royal College of Art, I began my professional creative career in Munich, working as an exterior designer for Rolls-Royce and MINI. During my time there, I led exterior work on Cullinan, Phantom as well as contributing to projects such as the Mini Coupe and Countryman.

After an exciting period living in Munich, my earliest love of craftsmanship and the world of historic cars drew me back to the UK as the director of a world-renowned classic car restoration firm. I went on to lead and develop diverse projects that achieved accolades, including a class win at the celebrated Pebble Beach Concours in California. During this time, looking after one of the world’s great collections allowed me the privilege to drive and experience many automotive icons, from the great Pre-War leviathans through to Le-Mans winning race cars.

It’s fair to say that my earliest memories involve old cars, motorcycles, and racing. From my grandfather's Bugatti’s and Bentley’s to my fathers love of pre-war Talbot, however, there is a twist. As well as being a third-generation ‘petrolhead’, I’m also (on my mother's side) a third-generation artist and designer.

Now based in my Wimbledon studio, I return to my first love as a child of painting objects (usually cars) and sculpture.

As an ‘Automotive Artist’ with a firm exterior design training and professional background, I try to bring a hint of analogue-style ‘Design Studio’ illustration to my work. I use a mix of watercolour, ink, and gouache. Complementing my art and design background is the highly focused attention to detail I gained through my years of leading restoration work.

When not drawing and painting cars, I can sometimes be found in galleries or playing guitar and piano. But usually, it’s still cars. Be it taking part in historic racing, working on a flowbench attempting to make things go faster, or enjoying the freedom of a good road trip in something interesting,.

To me, great vehicles are art in motion. Even the most seemingly mundane of vehicles have often been cared about by the people behind them. Some really do blend art with design, often placing form before function. And the best ones... tell a story that means something to its owner!

I hope my creative output conveys a lifetime of inspiration!
